Flat screen monitors, or more popularly known as LCD (Liquid Cristal Dsplay) monitors, have different ways to clean, compare than CRT (Catode Ray Tube), conventional screen. Flat screen monitor require special handling to clean it up, because the screen is more sensitive, easly scratched and damage, same with our flat screen TV.

Here are the steps to clean the LCD screen:

  1. 1. Turn off the monitor power. In dark situation of screen, we can easly see the dirt, oily stains, etc.
  2. 2. Use a soft and dry cloth, gently rub the screen, if possible use a glasses rag to clean it.
  3. 3. If dry rag can not clean dirt or oil, do not press the screen too hard to clean it, beacuse it can cause the pixels dead (burned).
  4. 4. Put the rag in to distilled water (H2O), and gently rub the screen.
  5. 5. There are some cleaning fluid in the markets, but usually with distilled water will suffice.

Tips:

  1. 1. Never use a coarse cloth like towel, tissue paper or used t-shirt to wipe the LCD screen, as this may cause scratches on the screen.
  2. 2. DO NOT use chemical(s), containing ammonia, ethyl alchohol, acetone, toluene, ethyl acil or methyl chloride, because the chemicals can react with LCD materials and can cause the yellow color on the screen or other damages.
  3. 3. Never spray any liquid directly into the LCD screen, it can damage the LCD layers on the screen.
